‘Educational institutes focus on financial aid’

Taking a dig at the educational institutes for indulging the government with an eye on the financial aid, CM Parrikar said such institutes should focus on quality education.

MAPUSA:
“Many times educational institutes target the grant-in-aid package and see the government as a money making machine,” CM said with a wry smile on his face while addressing the gathering at the Dnyanprassarak Mandal College.
He said many institutes see grant-in-aid as money making activity and the byproduct of such activity is that education suffers. “Many of such institutes mixed resources and money meant for one project is spent for something else,” he added.
Censuring the teaching community, the chief minister said most of the teachers focused on their salaries. “I know many of the teachers have wasted realms of writing pads trying to calculate how much raise they will receive after the 7th pay commission,” Parrikar said.
He, however, said the teaching community in Goa was the best.
