GOACAN clears misuse of Patto pavement after CCP inaction

Panaji: As part of its Vigilance Awareness Week activities, civics and consumer forum GOACAN conducted a “Spot the Negligence” drive today, addressing the persistent misuse of the pavement outside Shram Shakti Bhavan at Patto, Panaji.

The forum members drew attention to the unauthorized use of the pavements by bike riders and vendors, inconveniencing pedestrians.

GOACAN Coordinator Roland Martins pointed out the failure of CCP Inspectors to curb the menace.

It was after GOACAN’s intervention that the pavement was cleared, he said.

"The misuse of this area has impacted visitors to the Labour Court, Children’s Court, and various offices within Shram Shakti Bhavan, with commuters and office-goers at the KTC Bus Stand entry particularly affected.l," Martins said.

GOACAN noted that despite this problem being highlighted during an inspection of the KTC Bus Stand on July 26, CCP has yet to take meaningful action.

GOACAN has committed to raise the matter with the North Goa District Collector citing road safety concerns.
