Two female tourists were rescued in separate incidents at Ashwem and Calangute beaches on Tuesday.
According to Drishti reports, a female tourist entered into the sea along with a ring buoy to swim at the Ashwem beach at about 12.40 pm.
Drishti lifesaver Rahul Mahale present on the shore continuously advised the public not to go beyond knee level waters while he was patrolling.
Despite the lifesaver’s advice, the woman ventured into the deep waters where she got pulled inward by a rip current.
Noticing the victim struggling the lifesaver relayed a rescue call and immediately rushed to the victim’s rescue. After securing her to the rescue board, she was brought back ashore.
In another incident at Calangute beach, an Indian female tourist went for a swim in the red-flagged no-swim zone and got caught in a rip current.
Drishti lifesavers Sangharsh Asolkar and Siddesh Bhosle immediately saw the victim struggling to swim and rushed towards her with a rescue tube and surfboard.
Drishti lifesaver Karan Tandel also went to assist with a rescue tube and secured her with the help of his colleagues. The victim was brought back to safety and checked for medical issues. She was found to be fine.
