Ajgaonkar, Vijai spar over alleged suicide of power worker at Pernem

MARGAO
Deputy Chief Minister Manohar Ajgaonkarand Goa Forward Chief Vijai Sardesai were engaged in another round of war of words, this time over the alleged suicide committed by an electricity employee at Pernem.

While the Goa Forward Chief alleged that the employee has ended his life due to harassment on account of his transfer at the behest of a Minister, the Deputy Chief Minister condemned Sardesai’s claim, saying the Fatorda MLA is trying to make capital out of the death of a power employee.

The Goa Forward Chief on Wednesday evening claimed that the deceased has in his dying declaration allegedly named a Minister for meting out harassment since his family did not support a candidate fielded by the politician. “The Minister should be immediately dropped from the Cabinet and an inquiry initiated into the episode,” he said.

Moments later, Ajgaonkar called a hurried media briefing, wherein he lashed out the Goa Forward Chief for trying to make capital out of the employee’s death. “People from the area are all sad over the unfortunate incident. But, Sardesai is trying to take political mileage by dragging me in the incident,” Ajgaonkar said.

The Deputy CM said the whole of Goa knows Sardesai very well for protecting the formalin mafia and for trying to destroy Goa during his stint as the TCP Minister. "Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has put Sardesai in his place,” he said, adding that the people of Fatorda will teach Sardesai a lesson in the coming election.
