Double track: Nessai lost, all eyes now on Chandor, Davorlim

MARGAO
Having bulldozed its way with the work of laying the double track at the Nessai railway crossing armed with an order from the South Goa district Collector, all eyes are no focused on similar work scheduled at the Chandor railway station on November 2 and at the Davorlim railway crossing on November 9.

South Goa district Collector Ajit Roy had on October 26 issued an order granting permission for road closure at the Nessai, Chandor and Davorlim railway crossings to facilitate the railways to lay the double track. As per the order, these works are to start at midnight 00.00 hours and end by 05.00 hours.

Sources said the Collector’s order had taken everyone by surprise as the permission for road closure at the Nessai railway crossing was granted at a short notice.

Though the Goyan Kollso Naka activists did make their presence felt at the Nessai railway gate and raised a banner of protest, the railways bulldozed their way with police protection.
