Fatal play: Infant dies after touching live wire

In a tragic death, an 18-month-old girl was electrocuted to death at Benaulim on Thursday after she came in contact with a live wire.

The Colva Police have initiated an inquiry to find out whether there was negligence which resulted in the death of the infant. Colva Police Station in-charge, PI Satish Padwalkar said the post-mortem examination has stated that the infant died due to electrocution. To a question, he said the police are conducting further inquiry into the matter to find out if the death was caused by negligence of any sort.

The police said the infant girl, hailing from Jharkhand, was playing with other children when she came in contact with a live electric wire. The family had only recently moved into their rented room.

The police are investigating.
