The State government has announced it will grant financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh to each NGO working for the welfare of senior citizens, persons with disabilities, and other weaker sections of society.
The Social Welfare Department, which has been appointed as the implementing agency, stated that the scheme ‘Mukhyamantri Sahayata Nidhi Yojana’ is notified with an objective to provide financial assistance to registered NGOs to hold various activities including awareness camps, seminars, conferences, competitions, medical camps, etc.
“The scheme shall be applicable to all the NGOs registered under the Societies Registration Act of 1860, in the State. The NGOs applying for financial assistance under this scheme shall be working for the welfare of senior citizens, persons with disabilities & other weaker sections of the society, and the activities… to be undertaken shall be only for the cause of such sections,” the order states.
The government has also emphasized that the applicant NGO should contribute at least 20 per cent of the cost of the proposed activity and 80 per cent of the cost would be borne under the scheme subject to the maximum of Rs 5 lakh per Financial Year.
