After successful e-auction of 19 industrial plots in Verna, the Goa Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) has identified 13 plots at Latambarcem industrial estate with a total area of 14,055 sq metres.
IDC plans to earmark the Latambarcem industrial estate for food processing and beverage manufacturing units, with 14 plots being auctioned last year. Around 11 companies bid for 14 plots with an investment of over Rs 50 crore.
Speaking to The Goan, IDC managing director Pravimal Abhishek said that there are 13 plots available in Latambarcem for auction. The plot size varies from 600 metres to 1900 metres depending on the location.
During the last auction held in 2024, 14 plots were sold to companies looking for setting up foods and beverage units.
Abhishek said that recently held Verna industrial plot e-auction fetched good result with 19 out of the total 20, put up for e-auction, getting sold. “There is more land available in the Verna industrial estate for auction and will look into it as and when required,” he said.
Stating that the industries are looking forward only for plots in the major industrial estates like Verna or Kundaim, Abhishek said that the companies, through Investment Promotion Board (IPB) will have to tap for land in the industrial areas located in the hinterland.
“We have lot of land available for new projects and expansion… just that industries will have to shift their focus towards hinterland,” he added.
