Suspended Mamlatdar Rahul Dessai will soon be summoned for questioning into a fresh First Information Report (FIR) against him in a land grab case. The disgraced gazetted officer could face a re-arrest in the case registered on Tuesday.
"He will be issued a summons to join the investigation," an officer said while refusing to divulge the possibility of his re-arrest.
The Special Investigation Team (SIT) has so far arrested around 19 persons for their involvement in the scam. As many as 40 FIRs are registered to date whereas over 300 complaints are under scrutiny.
Dessai already faces two FIRs by the SIT for an offense wherein he is charged with conniving with a prime accused Royson Rodrigues and his accomplices to forge land-related documents and allow their sale for a whopping amount. He was suspended but managed to get bail in the earlier case.
