Four persons have been arrested and 85 bottles of liquor were seized after they were caught attempting to illegally transport the liquor to Karnataka from the forest at Nandram-Mollem on Friday night.
According to Collem police, the incident took place at about 9 pm when police on patrol saw four persons on two two-wheelers proceeding from the forest towards Karnataka.
When the police checked the four persons and the two-wheelers, they found an illegal stock of 85 bottles of liquor.
Police arrested the four persons, Prakash Hanabar (19), Ashok Hanabar (19), Nagesh Wadar (19) and Bodappa Hanabar (27), all from Tinaighat-Karnataka, and seized the liquor and both vehicles. They were later handed over to the excise department. Further investigations are in progress.
