A 45-year-old man from Panchwadi died of injuries after he was knocked down by a bus while he was changing the tyre of his car at the Verna Industrial Estate.
According to Verna police, the incident occurred on June 17 when Francisco Pedro Fernandes, a bus driver from Majorda, allegedly drove a bus in a rash and negligent manner while proceeding from Titan junction at Verna towards Loutolim.
The bus reportedly struck 45-year-old Babush Gaonkar, who was replacing a punctured tyre on his car.
Gaonkar sustained grievous injuries and was rushed to Goa Medical College, Bambolim, for treatment. However, police later received information from the GMC casualty police on June 19 that Gaonkar had succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.
The body has been preserved at GMC for further medico-legal formalities.
Verna police have registered the case under Sections 281 and 106(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). PSI Rajdatt Arsekar is conducting further investigation under the supervision of PI Anand Shirodkar and guidance of Mormugao DySP Gurudas Kadam.
