Drishti lifesaving teams were involved in multiple rescues at different beaches in the last two days.

A 34-year-old man from Maharashtra was rescued at Talpona beach on Monday by a Drishti lifesaver, who secured him to a rescue tube and brought him ashore.

A tourist who went out parasailing at Calangute beach was injured and sustained injuries due to the propeller of the boat on Monday. The 23-year-old man was administered first aid by the Drishti lifesaving team stationed at the beach. Thereafter, the water sports operator took the victim to the hospital for further treatment.

Meanwhile, the weekend saw the rescue of three persons each at Candolim and Baina beaches, all of who were caught up in rip currents, medical interventions at Palolem and Candolim and a successful reuniting of a three-year-old child with her parents at the busy Calangute beach.

A vigilant Drishti lifesaver spotted a lone 3-year-old girl child at Candolim beach and on approaching her, the lifesaver learnt that she was lost. He relayed a message to all towers alerting the force about the incident. A short while later, the lifesaver received a call from the Calangute tower that a child had gone missing in the area.

The lifesaver transported the toddler in a jeep to Calangute, where the child was reunited with the parents.

At about 1.25 pm, a male tourist was swimming in a non-swim zone at Candolim when he experienced a tide pulling him into the sea.

A Drishti lifesaver manning the point observed the victim in distress and rushed to his aid. The victim was secured onto the board and brought safely ashore. A short while later, a group of four tourists ventured into the same no-swim zone when two of them got caught up in a rip current. Two lifesavers spotted the duo in distress and rushed to their rescue, bringing them ashore.

At Baina, two Drishti lifesavers spotted a duo in distress who seemed to have got caught up in a rip current. They swam to the victims and secured the duo with a rescue tube and brought them safely ashore.

Earlier in the day, a man was rescued from a rip current at Baina beach by a lifesaver.

Medical interventions were conducted by Drishti lifesavers at Palolem and Candolim beach.

A lady walking on the rocky areas had a fall and suffered cuts on her hands and legs. She approached the lifeguard tower for assistance and first aid was promptly administered.

At Candolim, a male tourist fractured his shoulder while diving into oncoming waves. His friends who were with him alerted lifesavers when they noticed something amiss.

The victim was secured to a spine board while an ambulance was alerted. On arrival, the lifesavers shifted the victim to the waiting ambulance.
