Passenger caught smoking in Air India Express aircraft toilet

In an incident on board Air India Express Flight IX-840 from Dubai to Goa, a passenger was caught smoking in the lavatory, causing panic among passengers.

The incident occurred on Wednesday between 7.30 pm and 10.30 pm, while the aircraft was airborne.

The passenger, identified as Mohammed Kausar of Zuarinagar-Birla, and originally from Bihar, was reported by Air India Express Security Officer Rupali Chari. 

The smoking violation, which is strictly prohibited on flights, created alarm among passengers, putting the safety of the flight at risk.

Following the complaint, Dabolim Airport Police Station registered an offence under Section 287 of the BNSS. 

The accused has been served a notice under Section 35/3 of the BNSS. Further investigation into the incident is being carried out by the Dabolim Airport Police.
