Thousands of devotees from different walks of life are expected to take part in the unique and solemn ‘Penitential Procession of Saints’ at St Andrew’s Church, Goa-Velha, on April 7 at 4.30 pm.
The Penitential Procession of Saints (Santanchem Pursanv), which takes place in the fifth week of Lent, draws people from different religions as well as domestic and foreign visitors. Auxiliary Bishop Simiào Fernandes will be the main celebrant for the Eucharistic celebration, followed by the Procession of the Saints.
The life-sized statues of the Saints will be kept open for public veneration on April 7, 8 and 9 at St Andrew’s Church, Goa-Velha. On Tuesday, April 8, Masses will be celebrated at 7 am, 9 am and 4 pm, while a Mass will be celebrated at 7 am on April 9 in the church, stated Fr Antonio Albuquerque, Parish Priest at St Andrew’s Church, Goa-Velha.
