PANAJI
In a major initiative, a charging network for electric vehicles (EVs) is to be established soon in the capital city and the Goa Energy Development Agency (GEDA) has roped in the Imagine Panaji Smart City Development Limited (IPSCDL) to roll out the facilities.
The EV charging network will cover 40 locations in Panaji but initially 11 stations will be added to the three already built and operational by the IPSCDL.
Currently, 3 stations with nine charging guns for 2-wheelers are already operational and eight more stations with 31 charging guns will be set up by mid-February, a statement by IPSCDL said.
Of the 31 charging guns, 21 will be slow-charging ones for 2-wheelers and 10 fast charging guns for four-wheelers and can be accessed via the Jio BP Pulse app, which also connects to over 5,000 charging points across India.
IPSCDL meanwhile has roped in Reliance BP Mobility Ltd (Mumbai) for the task aimed to eventually have charging stations across all 40 locations strategically picked by the GEDA.
Charging stations all with slow charger guns for two-wheelers are currently operational at Madhuban Circle St.Inez, another near Caculo Mall and a third near Carpenters Choice opposite the St Inez church.
Of the eight new charging stations to be established by mid-February one will be at Miramar parking area near the beach (4-wheeler fast charger) and another opposite Mandovi Hotel. Yet another station will be located near the Passport Office at the EDC Patto Plazza and another opposte the Bal Bhavan at Campal. One station with three guns for two-wheelers will be located near Neptune Hotel and another near Alfran Plaza.
