Officials from the Electricity Department explained that power supply is disconnected if bills remain unpaid for three consecutive months, regardless of the amount owed.

“Even if the outstanding amount seems small, once it accumulates over three months, we are required to disconnect the supply,” a department official stated, speaking on the condition of anonymity.

The official further mentioned that the department relies on a system-generated report identifying all units with unpaid bills.

“Based on this report, we are instructed to disconnect connections. We are simply following orders from our seniors, and unfortunately, there’s little we can do in such cases,” he added.
