MARGAO
Claiming the Popular Front of India is the B team of the Congress, BJP minority leader Sheikh Jina on Thursday has condemned the statements made by PFI leaders directed at Chief Minister Pramod Sawant.
Jina challenged the PFI to contest the elections in Goa, including the Panchayat polls, saying the organization will be rejected by the people since it has no base anywhere in the country.
Saying the BJP will not remain quite if the PFI continues to target the Chief Minister, Jina said the BJP has helped the Muslim community right from the time of former Chief Minister late Manohar Parrikar.
Accusing the PFI for allegedly trying to divide the people on communal lines, he said the BJP is one party which is taking people from all walks of life and all sections of the society together. “If the PFI claims it is doing work, it should contest the elections. But, we have often found the PFI acting as a B team of the Congress. Instead of supporting the Congress, the PFI should directly join the Congress party,” he said.
Jina pointed out that Urdu schools got a big boost in the state since the time of former Chief Minister late Manohar Parrikar. “The BJP government headed by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has extended full support to the Urdu schools spread across the state. The PFI should stop misguiding the Muslim community”, he added.
