Tourists cook in parked buses, fish trucks take over bays at KTC terminus

Citizens of Margao and Fatorda have made an impassioned plea to the Kadamba Transport Corporation management and the government to ensure proper upkeep and maintenance of the Margao bus stand.
They also pointed out that tourist buses as well as insulated fish trucks are found parked on the bus stand meant for passenger buses. A group of tourists found cooking and eating food at the bus stand only showed the absence of supervision.
Incidentally, the Margao KTC bus stand had received a big facelift over a year ago ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Viksit Bharat campaign launch at the venue.
A resident of Madel, Milagres Fernandes, underscored the need for the KTC management to ensure that the bus stand, which is catering to the people of Margao, Fatorda, Salcete, and South Goa, is well-maintained. “There is no order at the bus stand. One can find waste littered at the bus stand, giving an ugly look. Hundreds of passengers, mostly tourists, embark and disembark at the Margao KTC bus stand every day. The bus stand should be maintained regularly,” he demanded.
Social activist and heritage lover, Yogesh Nagvenkar, stressed the need for the KTC management to put a system in place for the upkeep and maintenance of the bus stand.
“Besides buses, one can even find fish trucks parked on the bus stand. In the absence of proper amenities, one can find bus drivers and conductors of outstation buses cleaning the buses on the bus stand. The KTC should restore order at the bus stand,” he demanded.
