Biker knocks down two at Nuvem, flees

Two pedestrians, who were drying raw rice on the side of the service road at Nuvem, were left injured after a motorcycle rider knocked them down and fled from the accident spot.
Maina-Curtorim police informed that the incident occurred on Sunday evening when the accused person, Lakshman Kumar Singh, a resident of Consua, Verna and a native of Ramgarh, Jharkhand, rode his Hero Splendor motorcycle in a rash and negligent manner while proceeding from Verna towards Margao. Upon reaching the Nuvem bypass service road, he knocked down the pedestrians, namely Francisco Fernandes, a resident of Nuvem, and Remetin Fernandes, a resident of Consua, Verna.
The duo were drying raw rice on the side of the service road. While pedestrian Francisco Fernandes sustained grievous injuries, Remetin Fernandes escaped with simple injuries.
The police said the accused fled from the accident spot without rendering medical aid to the injured persons and without informing the police.
An FIR under Section 281, 125(a) of the BNS and 134(a) & 134(b) of the M.V. Act stands registered against the accused.
