Even as the absence of quorum came as a dampener to the election of new managing committees for the 16 Comunidade bodies for the triennium 2025-28, the Carmona and Varca Comunidade bodies seemed to have brought good news.
The Comunidades of Carmona and Varca have been revived after 30 years, with newly elected committee members saying the process has marked a significant moment in the community’s history.
The newly elected committee members of the Varca Comunidade are led by Solon Furtado – President, Haveloc Ferrao – Substitute President, Edgar Furtado – Attorney, Joaquim Savio Furtado – Substitute Attorney, Shollet Roncon Pereira – Treasurer, and Jesus Shastri Rebello – Substitute Treasurer.
After the election, Furtado was quick to assert that "the landmark event reflects the community’s commitment to restoring and strengthening traditional governance systems, fostering unity, and preserving its rich heritage".
The neighbouring Carmona Comunidade was also revived after 30 years. During the general body meeting held on December 15, 2025, a new committee was constituted for the Comunidade for a three-year term.
The committee members are: President - Blair Rodrigues, Substitute - Francisco E Furtado, Attorney - Teofil Antao, Substitute - Serafino Cota, Treasurer - Osmand Egipsy, and Substitute - Neizel Antao.
After the election, Blair Rodrigues said the committee could not be constituted for many years due to a lack of quorum for the meeting. “This year we made it possible to constitute the committee by gathering the shareholders to form the quorum,” he said.
