The onset of the monsoon in Goa over the last three days has brought only very light to moderate rainfall, with no instance of heavy showers reported so far.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has confirmed widespread rainfall activity accompanied by thunderstorms, but said intensity has remained below heavy-rain thresholds.
From June 1 till June 7, the State recorded an actual rainfall of 71 mm against the normal 101.5 mm, marking a negative departure of 30.1 percent. The highest single-day rainfall during the period was 19.5 mm, recorded on Sunday.
From Saturday morning to Sunday morning, rainfall was unevenly distributed across the State. Moderate rain was recorded in Canacona at 55.2 mm, followed by Mapusa at 40.2 mm, Mormugao at 37.2 mm, Margao at 28.2 mm, Sanquelim at 23.2 mm, and Panaji at 15.8 mm.
Light rainfall was reported in the range of 2.5 to 15.5 mm, including Ela (Old Goa) at 15 mm, Dabolim at 12.4 mm, and Dharbandora at 4.2 mm. Very light rainfall was recorded in Ponda at 2 mm.
Temperature readings indicated relatively warm conditions despite monsoon activity. On Sunday, the Panaji station recorded the maximum temperature at 33.2°C, which is 1.2°C above normal. In Mormugao, the maximum temperature was 32.8°C, showing a positive departure of 0.7°C.
Minimum temperatures remained slightly varied. Panaji recorded 25.1°C, marginally below normal by 0.2°C, while Mormugao registered 23.8°C, which was 2.1°C below normal.
