On the third day of filing nominations for the Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) elections, only one candidate, Uday Chari, submitted his papers. He is contesting from Ward 18. Friday is expected to be busy at the Deputy Collector’s office, with several well-known candidates likely to file their nominations.
Veteran councillor and former Mayor Surendra Furtado has confirmed that he will submit his papers in the morning. Other opposition candidates are also set to file nominations, making Friday an important day for the group. Meanwhile, candidates from the BJP-backed panel led by Revenue Minister Atanasio Monserrate had earlier said they would file their papers on Friday. However, neither camp has officially announced its full list of candidates yet.
