The controversy over recently promoted Superintendent of Police Sagar Ekoskar has intensified. The Home Department has asked the police leadership to examine a complaint seeking a review of the Chief Minister’s Gold Medal awarded to him on December 19, 2025.

In a letter to the Director General of Police, the department forwarded a representation submitted by Hanumant Parab, President of the Pissurlem Farmers Association.

Parab has made several allegations against the officer and questioned the decision to honour him.

“I am to forward a copy of the letter dated February 17, 2026, from Hanumant Parab addressed to the Chief Secretary, Government of Goa, on the subject cited above and request you to take necessary action in the matter,” the communication states.

A copy of the letter is with The Goan. The subject line mentions a “Request for review and cancellation of proposed Gold Medal to DySP Sagar Ekoskar on 19/12/2025.”

Parab has accused Ekoskar of assaulting him and several farmers at Pissurlem Police Station during a protest on March 11, 2022, against mining silt allegedly damaging agricultural fields.

He also repeated earlier allegations from the anti-IIT agitation at Melauli, claiming that Ekoskar assaulted local women during the protests.

Parab further alleged that Ekoskar assaulted a former sarpanch in Honda and was later asked to

apologise.

In a recent statement, Parab described Ekoskar as a “highly controversial officer” and questioned the government’s decision to award him the Chief Minister’s Medal, saying such recognition affects the morale of honest officers.
