CANACONA
Five different vehicles worth Rs 1.83 cr were inducted into the Canacona Municipal Council’s fleet for management of solid waste in the municipality on Tuesday.
CMC Vice-Chairperson and Acting Chairperson Gandesh Madganvkar inaugurated all five vehicles, comprising two compactors, two trucks and one soil tanker, on the last day of the council’s present 5-year term, in the presence of most councillors.
The council remembered former CMC chairperson late Laxuman alia Bakal Pagui, stating it was Pagui who had pursued the file with the Goa Solid Waste Management to make the necessary purchases of the vehicles.
Chaudi Councillor and ex-chairperson Ramakant Naik Gaunkar, Palolem-Ourem Councilor and ex-chairperson Simon Rebello and Acting Chairperson Gandesh Madganvkar spoke on the occasion, all stating that the outgoing council had completed several developmental works and completed the term on a high note.
Devabhag councillor and ex-chairperson Sara Shamba Naik Desai, Nagorcem Councillor Hemant Kumar Naik Gaonkar, Ponsulem Councillor Narcisco alias Nadin Fernandes, Kindlem Councillor Amita Pagi, Bhagatwada Councillor and ex-councillor Nitu Desai were present for the brief inaugural function.
