Goa to welcome PM Modi for grand 550-year celebrations at Partagali Math

PANAJI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Shree Samsthan Gokarn Partagali Jeevottam Math in Canacona, South Goa, tomorrow as part of the Sardha Panchashatamanotsava, the 550th-year celebration of the historic Math.

During the visit, the Prime Minister will unveil a 77-foot bronze statue of Prabhu Shri Ram, inaugurate the newly developed Ramayana Theme Park Garden, and release a special postal stamp and commemorative coin dedicated to the occasion. He will also address the gathering.

Shree Samsthan Gokarn Partagali Jeevottam Math is the first Gowd Saraswat Brahmin Vaishnava Math, following the Dvaita philosophy established by Jagadguru Madhvacharya in the 13th century. Situated on the banks of the Kushavati River, the Math is one of Goa’s most significant spiritual institutions.

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant called the event a historic moment for Goa, urging citizens to participate in large numbers. “Our respectable Prime Minister Narendra Modi is coming to Partagal tomorrow at 2.30 pm for the 550th anniversary celebrations. The unveiling of the 77-foot statue of Prabhu Ramchandra and the development carried out by the Math are matters of great pride for Goa,” the Chief Minister said.

“Goa is spiritually rich. Bringing 550 years of the Math’s history before the world and creating the magnificent statue of Prabhu Ramchandraji is a remarkable achievement. I congratulate Swamiji and everyone involved,” he said, noting that such projects significantly boost spiritual tourism in the state.

He added that the event is open to all and arrangements have been made for attendees, urging all to arrive early to witness the program and extend a warm welcome to the Prime Minister on behalf of the state.
