The Konkan Railway Corporation Limited (KRCL) has reported a milestone year marked by significant achievements in connectivity, innovation, and passenger services, reinforcing its role in India’s railway network.
Highlighting the organisation’s progress, Santosh Kumar Jha, Chairman and Managing Director of KRCL, said the accomplishments reflect a strong commitment to inclusive growth and the national vision of a developed India. He noted that KRCL continues to align its initiatives with the broader goals of enhancing infrastructure and service quality.
According to official data, KRCL witnessed a notable rise in passenger traffic across its network during the past financial year. The corporation also recorded its highest-ever ticket-checking revenue, amounting to ₹27.59 crore.
In a move to boost pilgrimage tourism, KRCL flagged off the Dev Darshan Special Train, including six FTR services connecting key religious destinations such as Ranjangaon, Ayodhya, and Rameshwaram.
On the infrastructure front, the corporation reported major progress in the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) project, a key initiative aimed at strengthening national connectivity. Additionally, upgrades to bridges, tunnels, and signalling systems have been undertaken to enhance safety and operational reliability along the challenging Konkan terrain.
KRCL has also improved freight operations by increasing its Roll-on/Roll-off (RoRo) carrying capacity from 50 metric tonnes to 57 metric tonnes. Operational efficiency received a further boost with the extension of the Road-6 line at Madgaon station, facilitating smoother locomotive reversal.
Emphasising technological innovation, the corporation has introduced drone-based track monitoring systems, significantly reducing maintenance time and improving overall efficiency.
With these developments, KRCL continues to play a pivotal role in driving economic growth and strengthening transport infrastructure across the Konkan region.
