Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao has urged Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to respond to Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and stop smuggling of liqour from Goa to Karnataka.

Saying that Chief Minister Pramod Sawant must be under the impression that corrupt BJP Government is still ruling in Karnataka, Yuri sought to remind him that Congress Government is elected by the people of Karnataka to put an end to corruption.

Reacting to the directions issued by the Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to Excise Department officials to stop smuggling of illegal liquor from Goa, Yuri charged that BJP Government in Goa under Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has converted Goa into a hub for human trafficking, transit of drugs, transportation of polluting & hazardous substances and  smuggling of liquor from Goa.

“Our state borders have become completely fragile with absolutely no monitoring by authorities. Dead bodies are taken across border in tinted vehicles with officials remaining clueless. This shows that there is connivance between Government & Criminals, stated Yuri.

He added: “It is loud and clear that BJP Government deliberately turned a blind eye to transportation of illegal liquor to Karnataka when BJP Government was ruling there. Chief Minister Pramod Sawant ignored loss to state exchequer to help liquor mafia patronised by BJP Government in Karnataka”.

Thanking  Chief Minister of Karnataka Siddaramaiah for taking pro-active step to stop smuggling of illegal liquor from Goa, Yuri said the decision will in a way help Goa from revenue loss.

“It is most unfortunate that the BJP Government has still not learnt lessons despite CAG pointing out various scams in Excise Department. Government has failed to streamline functioning of excise department, Yuri added.
