A 47-year-old man was found lying dead on the railway track between Dabolim and Vasco in the wee hours of Thursday.
According to Vasco Railway Police, the incident came to light at around 1.49 am, when the Deputy Station Master at Vasco Railway Station informed police that a body had been sighted on the tracks.
When police reached the site, they found a male person lying in the middle of the track with locomotive injuries on his body. The deceased was later identified as Sharan Pirangi, a resident of Vijayapura in Karnataka, after an Aadhaar card was recovered from his possession.
The body was shifted to South Goa District Hospital in Margao for preservation and medico-legal formalities.
Vasco Railway Police have registered a case of unnatural death under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The inquiry is being conducted under the supervision of PI Amarnath Passi.
