No let-up in Bardez: Mapusa, Candolim health centres lead in Covid count

130 positive cases reported in taluka; Mapusa, Candolim centres top with 40 each

The spike in Covid-19 cases continued in Bardez with 130 persons testing positive at the six health centres on Sunday.

Mapusa and Candolim health centres led the count with both recording 40 positive cases each while 21 persons were infected with the virus in Porvorim.

Colvale and Siolim primary health centres reported 13 and 10 positive cases respectively.

Least number of cases was reported from Aldona primary health centre with six cases.

Health Officer of Mapusa urban health centre, Dr Cheryl de Souza informed that six persons each were tested positive in Cunchelim and Shettya-vaddo and four each in Peddem and Ansabhat.

She further disclosed that three persons each were infected in Carrasvaddo, Xelpem, Housing Board and Mapusa Detention Centre, two in Khorlim and one each in Dangui Colony, Feira Alta, Morod, Dattawadi and Gaunsavaddo.

The two coastal villages of Candolim and Calangute recorded 11 and 10 positive cases each under the jurisdiction of Candolim primary health centre.

Similarly, five persons reported positive in Arpora, four each in Pilerne and Verem, two each in Nerul and Saligao and one in Sangolda.

Penha de France, under the jurisdiction of Porvorim primary health centre recorded 16 positive cases followed by two each in Socorro and Guirim and one in Salvador do Mundo.

In Colvale primary health centre, five persons tested positive in Tivim, three each in Nadora and Revora and two in Colvale.

Under the jurisdiction of Siolim primary health centre, five persons were infected in Anjuna, three in Siolim and one each in Canca and Assagao.

The following cases were reported under the Aldona PHC – Moira (2), Aldona (2), Bastora (1) and Ucassaim (1).


29 infections, cases touch 400-mark in Canacona

CANACONA: It’s a new high of Covid cases in Canacona, even as 29 new cases are reported within Saturday and Sunday.

According to Health sources, the overall total has touched a new benchmark of 400 covid cases in Canacona.

While 19 cases were reported on Saturday, 10 more positive cases came to light on Sunday and the number of active cases has now reached again to over 130, added sources.

The new cases are reported from Khola, Agonda, Canacona municipal areas, Shristhal, Gaondongrim, Poinguinim and Loliem-Polem affecting almost all the areas in the taluka.

A 9-month-old baby girl is perhaps the youngest lot to have tested positive after her mother was found symptomatic 5 days ago.
