Chairman GTDC and Sanvordem MLA Dr Ganesh Gaonkar on Tuesday urged the people to avail the utmost benefits of the various health services provided by the government at the rural level thereby realising the movement of 'Health for All' in its true sense.
MLA Dr Gaonkar was speaking at the inaugural programme of the Block Health Mela organised by the Directorate of Health Services at Primary Health Centre – Pilliem Dharbandora as a part of the celebration of 'Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav' which coincided with the 4th anniversary of Ayushman Bharat-Health & Wellness Centre.
Speaking further MLA Dr Gaonkar lauded Dharbandora PHC for its tireless efforts in providing a unique health service to rural people. Lamenting on incidents of violence against doctors and medical staff, Dr Gaonkar appealed to the people for their cooperation and support while delivering better health services. He also lauded the Directorate of Health Services for organising the Health Mela for Dharbandora Block.
Heath Officer of Dharbandora PHC Dr Sandesh Madkaikar informed about various health services provided at the level of Primary Health Centre and said that the Health Melas at the Block level play a crucial role in early diagnosis of diseases which in turn helps to administer appropriate treatment thereby saving the patient from unwarranted complications.
Panch Member Ramnath Dangui also spoke on the occasion. ZP Member, Dharbandora Sudha Gaonkar, ZP Member Usgaon, Umakant Gaude, Dharbandora Sarpanch Swati Tilve and Usgao Sarpanch, Smita Gaude were present on the occasion.
In order to promote the 'Health for All' movement in the State, the Directorate of Health Services is organising Block Health Melas at four Block cities in the State. The second Health Mela will be held for Bicholim Block on April 20 at the Community Health Centre Sankhali. For Pernem Block, the Health Mela will be conducted on April 21 at Deendayal Hall, Tuem. Similarly, on April 22, the Health Mela will be held at Canacona, Community Health Centre. The Health Melas would be conducted from 9 am to 4 pm.
The Health Mela is comprised of various medicine and OPDs for the general public, wellness activities like yoga and meditation. The Directorate of Food & Drugs Administration conducted a poster competition regarding the 'Eat Right Campaign'. Similarly, the Directorate of Education, Panchayat, Art and Culture and other Departments extended their support for promoting the 'Health for All' movement.
