Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has exuded confidence that the Lotus will bloom again in Quepem in the 2027 Assembly elections if all founder party members and those who joined the party recently join hands and put their differences aside.
Addressing BJP Karyakartas from the Quepem constituency at a meeting in Fatorpa, the Chief Minister made a fervent appeal to party veterans and newcomers alike to work together to ensure the BJP's victory in Quepem.
Clearing his stance on the statement made by Congress MLA Elton D’Costa, who claimed that the Chief Minister invited him to the BJP, Sawant termed the statement as completely false and misleading, clarifying that he has not invited anyone and that there is no need for the BJP to invite the Congress MLA.
The Chief Minister further stated that the current MLA should not take credit for the development works being carried out in Quepem Constituency. “The development works being undertaken in Quepem were planned and approved by former Deputy Chief Minister Chandrakant Babu Kavlekar during his tenure. These works remained pending during the COVID crisis. The current MLA is taking credit for the completion of these works, which were started and completed now. As Finance Minister and Chief Minister, I am cooperating to complete these works,” he said.
The Chief Minister also mentioned that the credit for the Panchayat house built in the ONGC complex should go to both the state and central governments.
BJP State President Damu Naik said that the development seen in Goa is due to the "double engine" of the BJP. “Earlier, from 2004 to 2012, there was a double-engine government of the Congress. But, during this period, there was no development in Goa. The BJP government implemented schemes that supported the people, and the people have greatly benefited from these schemes.”
In his address, Chandrakant Kavlekar stated that he would unveil the documents related to this at the appropriate time. Quepem Mandal President Kripesh Velip welcomed the gathering, while General Secretary Arjun Velip proposed the vote of thanks. General Secretary Dayesh Naik coordinated the meeting.
