Tourist taxi operators from the Salcete coastal belt on Saturday made a plea to Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to leave the starred resorts with taxi stands for the operators to eke out a living.

Representatives of tourist taxi operators from the villages coming under the jurisdiction of the Colva Police Station, from Cavelossim to Majorda, were invited by the Colva Police Station in-charge, PI Satish Padwalkar to resolve the issue between the tourist taxi operators and Goa Miles.

After the meeting, the taxi operators decided to submit a detailed memorandum to the South Goa District Collector to ensure that Goa Miles does not eat into their business by taking customers from the starred resorts.

Taxi operator Valencio Goes later told the media that they had appealed to Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to resolve the issue by barring the taxi aggregator from plying at the taxi stands at the starred resorts. Clarifying that they are not demanding a stop in the operation of Goa Miles, Valencio said the taxi operators do not want Goa Miles at taxi stands of the starred hotels.
