Two siblings, a brother and sister were injured after a two-wheeler hit a leopard on the Carapur–Sarvan highway in Bicholim taluka at around 11 p.m. on Friday night. The incident has created fear among residents in the area.

According to available information, the brother and sister from Bicholim had gone to watch the Ghode Modni festival. While they were travelling on a two-wheeler towards Harvalem at night, their vehicle hit a leopard that was sitting on the highway. Both riders were injured in the accident.

After the collision, the leopard remained lying on the road for some time but later ran away towards the forest. The injured duo were first admitted to the Sanquelim Health Centre. Later, they were shifted to the Bambolim Hospital for further treatment. Forest Department officials said that both were later discharged after treatment.

Meanwhile, reports of leopard movement in the Kudne area of Bicholim taluka have been received over the past few days, following which the Forest Department installed a cage trap there on Friday. Leopard movement has also been reported in the Radhanagar–Bord area, where a trap had been set up a few days earlier.

A few months ago, another incident occurred in the Bord area where four people on a two-wheeler were injured after colliding with a leopard while it was crossing the road.
