The traditional Dussehra festival at the famous Shri Sateri Ravalnath Temple at Mauxi in Sattari was celebrated with great enthusiasm and devotion on Tuesday.

A large number of devotees visited the temple from morning until late into the night to seek the blessings of the deity.

The temple’s traditional Dussehra celebration has been famous for many years, and the village has continued its long-standing custom of celebrating Dussehra.

Health Minister and local MLA Vishwajit Rane and Goa Forest Development Corporation Chairperson and Poriem MLA Deviya Rane attended the celebrations and offered prayers to Shri Sateri Ravalnath.

Religious rituals and worship of the deity were performed at the temple over nine days. Every day, the worship began with the offering of a floral garland to the deity.

Following nine days of traditional prayers and rituals, devotees from Goa as well as neighbouring Maharashtra and Karnataka visited the temple in large numbers to offer prayers. The celebrations are scheduled to conclude late on Wednesday night.

According to temple committee president Sunil Mhauskar and other villagers, the tradition of celebrating Dussehra in Mauxi has continued for many years.

The festival is organised with great enthusiasm every year, and preparations begin approximately two months in advance. Special care is taken to ensure that devotees visiting the temple do not face any inconvenience.

Mhauskar further stated that villagers and other devotees extend full cooperation to ensure the smooth conduct of the celebrations.

Senior villager, Zilu Gaonkar, said special attention is given to ensuring that nothing disrupts this long-standing tradition.

“Efforts are made to preserve the religious significance of the festival and maintain its traditional practices. Various government departments and offices also extend valuable cooperation in organising the event,” he said.
