VALPOI
A youth was killed while three others were seriously injured when two scooters collided with each other in the Redighat area between Honda and Valpai on Saturday evening.
The deceased has been identified as Shawn Lobo (20) of Sanquelim, while those who were seriously injured were Prakshama Karpe of Valpoi, Maruti Harijan of Mapusa, and Radhika Halarnkar of Morjim.
According to reports, Lobo and Karpe were on a two-wheeler proceeded from Poriem to Valpoi via Honda, while the other two-wheeler was in the opposite direction when both the vehicles collided with each other.
Lobo died in the accident while Karpe, as well as the other two riders, Harijan (52) and Halarnkar (45) were moved to the Community Health Centre at Valpoi, from where they were referred to the Goa Medical College hospital for further treatment.
As news of the mishap spread, a crowd rushed to the Valpoi CHC.
Valpoi police sent the body of Lobo to the GMC for an autopsy and investigations are in progress.
