A youth died while another was seriously injured when their two-wheeler and a truck collided with each other at Devsodo-Dharbandora on Friday.
According to reports, the incident took place as Tushar Naik and Abhishek Gaonkar, both from Kirlapal, were proceeding towards Dharbandora.
Naik died on the spot due to serious head injuries, Gaonkar was seriously injured and was rushed to the Piliem PHC, from where he was referred to the GMC hospital and is undergoing treatment.
The truck driver fled from the site following the mishap.
Ponda police conducted a panchanama at the site and is on the lookout for the driver. Police Inspector Vijaynath Kavlekar is supervising investigations in the case.
