Ten fishermen were rescued when a fishing boat capsized off the coast of Chapora-Vagator on Thursday.
The coordinated rescue by Drishti at Vagator involved 5 jetskis and more than 15 lifesavers.
According to Drishti reports, a fishing boat capsized off Chapora beach. A Drishti lifesaver Yashwant Kurle first noticed the 10 fishermen jumping from the boat and realised that something was wrong when the boat started to sink.
The quick response by lifesavers of the Vagator tower on jet skis as first responders saved the first lot, before jet skis from as far as Baga, Calangute and Arambol reached the scene and moved into swift action.
Two fishermen went missing soon after and help was alerted. Eight fishermen were rescued by the lifesavers and brought back ashore. Two fishermen, who had jumped into the waters, were missing but eventually made it to shore. The shore party were deployed immediately and the two missing fishermen were safely found by them.
The survivors were all then moved to Vagator for first aid and other assistance.
