Speaking to The Goan, Dabolim Traffic PI Naulesh Desai, who is holding additional charge of Vasco traffic cell, said after reading the news in The Goan on Tuesday, he immediately sent a letter to MPT seeking details of all the trucks that transported Muriate of Potash (MoP) between 3 am and 10 am on Monday.
“I have requested the MPT to provide the CCTV footage of movement of the trucks from the port carrying the cargo. I have directed the police to collect the CCTV footage from the shops along the F L Gomes road where there was spillage,” said PI Desai.
“With the help of the CCTV footage, we will be able to find out the trucks responsible for the spillage and accordingly issue fine for creating nuisance and pollution which caused hardship to the people of the port town,” added PI Desai.
“On Tuesday, 10 trucks were fined for violating the norms of transportation,” informed PI Desai.
“We will continue the drive and keep a strict watch on the vehicles which are involved in night transportation of cargo from the
port to other destinations and if we find any truck responsible for any type of spillage, we will not hesitate to seize the vehicle besides issuing fine,” added Police Inspector Desai.
