A total of 100 beneficiaries including frontline healthcare staff and doctors were administered the first dose of Covishied vaccine at Manipal Hospital in Dona Paula.

Sister Dorothy Francis, who works at the Covid ward of the hospital, was the first to take a shot of vaccine.

The hospital recorded three mild adverse events following immunisation but none required any medication except rest for 15 minutes.

The beneficiaries also included 15 consultants and one resident doctor, who availed the benefits from the extra vaccination schedule.

State Epidemiologist Dr Utkarsh Betodkar officiated as an observer with the support of a team from DHS.
