Stating that they were promised by Central BJP leaders that all 10 MLAs who had joined BJP would get party tickets, MLA Tony Fernandes said he is cent per cent sure to get the BJP ticket from St Cruz.
“We were promised by the central BJP leaders on July 11, 2019, that all MLAs would get BJP tickets,” Fernandes told the reporters when asked if he would get the BJP ticket for the forthcoming assembly elections.
“I can only say that I am hundred per cent sure that I will get a BJP ticket from St Cruz,” Fernandes said.
When pointed out that Panaji MLA Babush Monserrate’s aide Agnel Cunha is also staking a claim for the BJP ticket in St Cruz, Fernandes opined that anybody can make claim but the ticket would be his.
“BJP has never won from St Cruz but with BJP’s popularity growing, everybody wants to stake a claim for BJP ticket,” he said.
