12 candidates lose deposit in Sanvordem, Curchorem, Sanguem and Quepem

Twelve candidates from Sanvordem, Curchorem, Sanguem and Quepem constituencies lost their deposits after they failed to secure a minimum of one-sixth of the total votes polled in the recently held assembly election.


CURCHOREM

In Sanvordem, newly-elected MLA Deepak Pauskar polled 14,575 votes to defeat sitting MLA Ganesh Gaonkar of BJP, who polled 9,354 votes, with the other candidates, Shankar Kirlapalkar of Congress (991) and Balkrishna Marathe (152) left far behind, while 305 opted for NOTA. Kirlapalkar and Marathe lost their deposits.  
Curchorem MLA Nilesh Cabral secured 12,830 votes, leaving Shyam Satardekar (3,742) and Rosario Fernandes of Congress (2,778) far behind in the polls, while James Fernandes of AAP polled 2,028 votes. Rosario and James lost their deposits.  
In Sanguem, MLA Prasad Gaonkar polled 7,636 votes more than sufficient to defeat ousted MLA Subhash Phal Dessai (6,699) and Savitri Kavlekar of Congress (5,736). The other candidates, Dattaprasad Sawardekar (989), Ravindra Velip of AAP (658), Vasudev Gaonkar of MGP (484), Sudesh Gaunkar (148) and Rakhi Naik (125) could secure only three-digit votes, while the NOTA votes were 208. From the eight, Dattaprasad Sawardekar, Ravindra Velip, Vasudev Gaonkar, Sudesh Gaunkar and Rakhi Naik lost their deposit.  
In Quepem, MLA Babu Kavlekar polled a sizeable 13,525 votes defeating Prakash Velip of BJP (10,933). The other candidates in the fray were Joao Fernandes of AAP (1,385), Charles D’Silva of Goa Su-Raj Party (251) and Sudesh Gaude of MGP (211). The NOTA votes were 357. Fernandes, D’Silva and Gaude lost their deposits.
