A 15-year-old boy died after the motorcycle on which he was travelling as a pillion rider skidded and crashed at Assonora.
According to Colvale Police, the accident occurred in the afternoon on the State Highway 1 near Holy Cross Chapel, Assonora.
The motorcycle was being ridden by 22-year-old Shivraj, who was travelling from Assonora towards Sirsaim.
Police said the rider allegedly drove in a rash and negligent manner and lost control of the motorcycle near the chapel. The motorcycle skidded, causing the rider and pillion rider to fall onto the road.
The teenager, a resident of Poriem, Sattari, sustained serious head and eye injuries. He was shifted to Goa Medical College, Bambolim, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Colvale Police have registered an offence against Shivraj under Sections 281 and 106(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.
