In a tragic accident, a 16-year old minor boy from Corjem-Curtorim Abel Menezes died in a road accident involving a bullet motorcycle and a car at Amrutnagar near Sonsodo late Tuesday.
Fatorda police informed that while the victim was riding the bullet motorcycle, the Creta car was driven by Rounak Sandeep Raikar, aged 26 years, resident of Pajifond, Margao, along with two family occupants.
In the collision, the police said the minor rider fell on the road, sustaining serious injuries. The injured rider was immediately shifted to South Goa District Hospital, Margao, where the doctor on duty declared him brought dead.
Police said the Medical Officer who conducted the post mortem examination has certified the cause of death as damage to the face, chest and abdomen due to blunt force impact of a motor vehicular accident type.
The police investigation further revealed that the Bullet motorcycle had been entrusted to the 16-year-old minor by his father, Rui Menezes, thereby permitting the minor to ride the motorcycle on a public road despite being under the legally permissible age for driving the said motor vehicle
Accordingly, on the basis of the complaint lodged by Sanjay Sawant Dessai (HC 4487) of Fatorda Police Station on behalf of the State, Fatorda police has registered an offense against Rui Menezes under Section 106(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 and Section 199A(2) of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988
Further investigation is in progress with PSI Satvashil Devidas under the supervision of the Police Inspector, Fatorda Police Station.
