A 17-year-old student from Nachinola was found dead under mysterious circumstances at her residence on Tuesday evening, police said.
According to police sources, the teenager was found unconscious inside her room when her parents returned home in the evening.
After repeated attempts to contact her went unanswered, the family reportedly broke open the door and discovered the girl lying unresponsive on the bed.
Realising that she was not showing any signs of movement or response, the family immediately alerted the police.
A police team rushed to the spot and carried out a panchanama before shifting the body for post-mortem examination to ascertain the exact cause of death.
Police have registered a case of unnatural death and said further investigation will depend on the findings of the autopsy report.
“Prima facie, no foul play has been established. However, all angles are being examined and the exact cause of death will be known only after the post-mortem report is received,” a police official said.
The sudden death of the teenager has left residents of the locality in shock, with neighbours describing the girl as a quiet and studious child.
