Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Ashwini Kumar Choubey on Tuesday stated in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha that 92,61,227 Health Care Workers (HCWs) are being targetted in the country for Covid-19 vaccination. Offering a state-wise breakup of this target, the Minister of State informed that Goa is aiming for a target population of 19,181 HCWs from the State government, central government and private sector during the ongoing Covid vaccination drive.
The Government of India has started Covid-19 vaccination for Health Care Workers in the country on January 16. Since then, Goa’s Health Department has successfully inoculated close to 4,000 HCWs. The state has so far received 41,500 doses of the Covid-19 vaccine, ‘Covishield’ from the MoHFW.
In a separate written reply tabled before the Rajya Sabha, the Minister of State for Health provided the details of the medical equipment procured for the management of Covid-19 since January 2020.
Offering a peek into the state-wise breakup, the MoHFW informed that a total of 3.22 lakh N95 masks, 1.06 lakh PPE kits and 250 ventilators have been provided to Goa Government by the Union Government for management of Covid-19.
Giving a larger picture of the financial backup for Covid management in India, the reply further stated that during the Financial Year 2019-20, Rs 1113.21 crore was released to the state and Union Territory administrations under National Health Mission towards management and containment of Covid 19 pandemic.
In the Financial Year 2020-21, the fund allocation rose to Rs 6309.90 crore under the Covid 19 Emergency Response and Health Systems Preparedness Package, a Central Sector Scheme.
Over 4,800 HCWs inoculated so far
PANAJI: The vaccination drive continued on Tuesday with a total of 913 HCWs being vaccinated across the State. Of these, 574 were vaccinated in North Goa while 339 were vaccinated in South Goa. Till Tuesday, a total of 4,8 HCWs have been given a shot of the ‘Covidshield’ vaccine across various centres in the State.
106 new Covid cases recorded
PANAJI: No Covid related deaths were recorded in Goa on Monday. As a result the total Covid victim count remains steady at 768. A total of 106 new cases of the infection were detected from among the 2,317 samples tested in the last 24 hours.
While the total number of samples tested for the virus in the state have crossed 4.54 lakh, the total confirmed cases have now touched 53,575 of which 52,039 have recovered and 768 are presently active. The recovery rate stands at 97.13 per cent.
A total of 28,433 persons have opted to recover under home isolation so far in Goa.
