19-year-old from Aldona held for bike theft

Swift action by the Mapusa Police led to the arrest of a 19-year-old from Aldona in connection with the theft of a scooter reported early Tuesday morning.

A woman from Aldona had complained that her scooter was stolen around 6.15 am from an open parking area in front of her house.

Based on her complaint, police registered a case under Section 303(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023. Acting swiftly, DySP Wilson D’Souza formed a team led by PI Nikhil Palekar with ASI Ajay Gaonkar and Mapusa Police staff. 

Using human and technical intelligence, the team traced and intercepted the accused, identified as Mario Dias (19), son of Maria Dias, from Podwal, Khorjuvem, Aldona. Police recovered the stolen scooter at his instance.

“The recovery of the stolen scooter confirms the involvement of the accused in the theft,” said a police spokesperson.
