2 arrested for misappropriation of Rs 24 lakh from company

Verna police on Monday arrested two people on charges of misappropriating Rs 24 lakh from their company.

According to sources, Lavesh Nenwani (29) a native of Thane-Maharashtra but residing in Porvorim and Jacob D’Cruz (51), the shop manager at the Porvorim branch of the company, have been arrested in this connection with the crime under Sections 409, 420 read with 34 IPC.

“Oscar Peter Fernandes, the operations manager, complained that since last two years, both the accused were employees of the company and were entrusted to collect cash from the different outlets. But the duo with their common intention misappropriated the company’s cash amounting over Rs 24 lakh and failed to deposit the cash in the company’s bank account, thereby cheating the company,” a source said.

“Both the people have been arrested and have been remanded for three days police custody,” the source added.

Verna PSI Pravin Shimepurushkar is carrying out further investigation under the supervision of PI Diago Gracias and guidance of DySP Rajesh Kumar.
