Additionally, five existing HSS have sought permission to open different streams. Of these three have asked permission for Science stream and two others have asked for opening commerce and arts streams.
Speaking to The Goan, Deputy Director of Education Ramkrishna Samant said, “We have received 20 applications for opening new HSS, of which 19 are aided and one is unaided.” Of the 20 applications received, 11 are to open HSS in North Zone comprising of Bardez, Bicholim, Sattari and Pernem taluka, eight in Central Zone comprising Ponda, Dharbandora, Sanguem and Tiswadi taluka and one in South Zone.
Speaking further, Samant said, “We have asked the deputy directors of respective zones to conduct feasibility report on the same. We expect to receive the reports by March-end.
The DoE will consider the applications after studying the feasibility reports.
