With 23 new cases detected on Saturday, the overall Covid countin Pernem taluka has reached close to the 500-mark.
On Saturday, cases were reported in Mandrem (2), Tuem (1),Ugvem (6), Korgao (3), Keri (2), Dhargal (1), Pernem town (7) and Mopa Airport(1).
There are now 494 cases in Pernem taluka, of which 376 patientshave been discharged after recovering from the virus and 118 cases are stillactive.
Mandrem (65) has the highest number of cases, followed byArambol and Pernem town with 49 cases each and Korgao with 43 cases.
While the virus has spread to all panchayats and the lonemunicipality in Pernem taluka, all Covid patients from Vazari, Varkhand,Chopdem and Ibrampur have recovered from Covid.
However, people have been found crowding at various markets inthe taluka, ignoring social distancing and other health guidelines.
