The Anjuna police on Tuesday arrested a 23-year-old man for allegedly assaulting another youth with a sharp weapon near a bar in Chapora, leaving the victim with serious head injuries. Police said the incident occurred in the early hours of September 16, near Avatara Bar and Restaurant, Chapora.
The accused, identified as Sahil Sawood Bapu (23), a resident of Chapora, allegedly attacked Mothe Sairam (27) on the head with a sharp weapon, with the alleged intention of killing him. The complaint in the matter was lodged by Mohammed Noorudhe (24), a resident of Bengaluru, Karnataka, who is a friend of the victim.
The victim sustained severe bleeding injuries and is currently undergoing treatment at the Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim.
Following the complaint, the Anjuna police registered an offence under Section 109 (1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and placed the accused under arrest.
Police said further investigation is underway.
